Artist’s Statement:

‘Psychorhythms’ was created in several stages with a combination of materials, mediums, and techniques - Abstract particles of colour on plastic, formed into chaotic figures, textures, peaks, and crevices, and finally captured on camera. As well as an experiment in using unorthodox materials – the statement ‘art as recycling’ informed my decision to use recycled plastic bags and sheeting – this project also serves as a reflection of the contemporary post-canvas artistic landscape. Although an art photography project, the photography element is merely documenting the unique and momentary undulations of the plastic and paint’s response to this. This project is entitled ‘Psychorhythms’ as it was created using very spontaneous expressionistic methods used to echo inner experiences and the ever-changing mood of the individual.
