Aparna Sarkar is an artist and teacher in Brooklyn, NY. She explores the othered body and hybrid identity through mythological paintings and drawings. Aparna earned a BA from Pomona College in 2014, majoring in Mathematics and minoring in Studio Art. Her work has been shown at galleries in New York, California, and Washington, D.C., including Field Projects, Abrons Art Center, SVA, and Trestle Gallery. She completed residencies with SVA, Trestle Gallery, and Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, for which she was awarded the Meredith Morabito and Henrietta Mantooth Full Fellowship.
